Woyo

Description
Influenced by the classic Woyo Mask from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I discovered the carvings of the mask are for ritual dances of a secret male society that keeps social order. Often in dots, the colors used had a symbolic meaning and were sometimes repainted, symbolizing rebirth or restoring the mask’s power.
